The First Fish for April fell to Fishery Manager Michael O’ Shea while fishing Pool 9. A nice 10Ibs fish taken on the worm. Heinz Muri and companions were back again on their annual pilgrimage. Daniel Jardy was the first to score on Pool 6 with an 8 ½ Ib fish on the shrimp. Heinz Muri was then in the spotlight in Pool 7 landing a nice 8ilbs fish. The middle of the month saw a slight increase in water levels and as a result local Anglers Pat Mostyn and Noel Hickey took a fish each from pool 6, which were both on the worm weighing 11 1/2Ilbs and 91/2Ilbs. With the river running high Kathy Bonorand and her Father Willi Beaumann began their week with two fish from Pool 7, weighing 6 1/2Ilbs and 7 ½ Ibs, small fish but fresh. Walter Schnider, Willi Frei, and Hans Beck returning for their 37th year to fish the Caragh started well with Walter landing a nice fish on pool 7 on the shrimp. Dublin Fisherman Brian white caught his first of 2004 on pool 8with the worm. He then had the honour of landing the first grilse of 2004 on the Caragh, a fresh fish of 4 ½ pounds taken from the Doctors pool. This brought Aprils total to 21 Fish and the years total to 51 not bad so far. With the river needing water as the Grilse run approaches Anglers turn to trout fishing on Caragh Lake where good bags of brown trout are being taken. If the fly is not affective trolling is another option. There are still some vacancies for early May due to cancellations anyone wishing to fish this beautiful river can contact the Fishery Manager Michael O’ Shea.
