River BarrowRiver Barrow July 2003 Report

The Southern Regional Fisheries Board reports that there was excellent salmon fishing in early July throughout the entire system with most anglers catching fish. At St. Mullins, some fine fish were landed such as the 19-pounder caught by Joe Nolan, Graigcullen, Carlow + a 9 lb salmon on the same day. Other anglers also report some big fish from these waters. One notable feature this year is that the salmon are not waiting around this area which is at the top of the tide, but are moving through very quickly. This is borne out by the fishing upstream in places such as Graignamanagh, where those lucky enough to be out when the run was on were delighted with the catch. Equally those who were fishing at Bun na hAbhann (Borris), Goresbridge, Fennellscourt, have enjoyed some wonderful fishing.
