Edith Dobson landed her 3rd fish for the week on the 1st of April. This was her best year, in recent times, on the Caragh and she was rewarded with three beautiful fresh springers. First time visitor to the Caragh, Paul (the cormorant) Osbourne, landed his first ever salmon on Cloon Lake on a toby. Paul duly released the fish, which was well coloured. A great gesture for an angler who never caught a salmon. Annual visitor Sigi Schneid caught 3 fish from the Caragh, on the 11th, 13th and 14th. One on the worm, one on the flyin'C’ and one on the fly. Well done Sigi. Another regular to the Caragh is Heinz Muri, who took 2 fish on the last two days of his week. One from pool 6 and one from pool 7, both on the shrimp. This was a special moment for him and his son, who netted the fish for him. On the 18th wheelchair angler Moss O’Conner took an 11 lb fish from pool 6 with the worm, the fish was very fresh with the tails on the lice still attached. Last fish of the month fell to Pat Mostyn with a fish from Cloon. The total for April was 29 fish, with river in almost perfect condition throughout the entire month. Anglers were seeing a lot of fish running and, up to 15 fish were lost or hooked in this time. The prospects for the next few months looks very promising indeed. All fish on the Upper Caragh must be booked through Fisher Manager Michael O’Shea.
